Akwa Ibom’s Governor Akpabio Gives Electrician N1 Million For Returning Stolen 250,000 Dollars
The controversial governor who is popular for spending Akwa Ibom’s fund lavishly has rewarded an electrician who returned his missing $250,000 with a whopping one million naira.
According to Premium News, Bundles of mint-fresh dollars, valued at over $250,000 (about N40 million), which disappeared late last month from Governor Godswill Akpabio’s bedroom at the Akwa Ibom state governor’s lodge in Asokoro, Abuja, have been recovered intact.
SaharaReporters, had last month reported that the missing dollars, kept in drawers in the governor’s bedroom, were stolen while he was away dinning with President Goodluck Jonathan at the Aso Rock Villa a fortnight ago.
PREMIUM TIMES has now learnt that the missing money was recovered a week after it disappeared. It was found by an electrician invited to carry out minor repairs on one of the air conditioners inside the governor’s bedroom at the lodge.
Mr. Akpabio, who is well known for his profligacy with state funds, had reportedly ordered the dismissal of three stewards working at the lodge, suspecting they stole the funds.
However, unknown to the governor, the trio knew nothing about the missing money.
The culprit, a senior Akwa Ibom official close to the governor said, was actually one of the drivers attached to the office of the governor’s Special Representative in Abuja, who is the caretaker of the lodge.
The driver reportedly sneaked into the governor’s room and removed the dollars from where they were kept.
But because of the security around that section of the lodge, he cleverly tucked them inside the compartment of the air conditioner until a more convenient time he would be able to smuggle his fortune out.
Officials, who spoke to PREMIUM TIMES, said a week after the money was declared missing, it was observed that one of the air conditioners in the governor’s bedroom malfunctioned.
The driver plotting to steal money was, ironically, detailed to fetch an electrician to fix the failing AC ahead of the governor’s next visit. The electrician was called in as he had handled similar repairs in the past at the lodge.
On their way to the lodge, according to officials, the driver confessed to the technician how he had left “something” valuable inside the air conditioner, and which he expected him to retrieve for him, promising a huge reward if he did so successfully.
However, because of the extra security arrangement in place around the lodge following the incident, it was learnt that it proved difficult for the electrician to deliver on his promise, as one of the security operatives working at the lodge was promptly detailed to supervise the repairs.
On opening the air conditioner for repairs, the electrician was reportedly surprised that true to the driver’s earlier hint, there was a carefully wrapped parcel inside the appliance, preventing the system from functioning normally.
The electrician was said to have promptly alerted the security operative detailed to work with him about his find; and on opening the parcel, it was discovered that bundles of the missing money were actually inside.
Afraid he might be held as suspect in the incident, the electrician reportedly confessed to the operative about the favour the driver had sought from him on their way to the lodge.
The money was promptly handed over to the governor’s aide, who on breaking the good news to the governor, was ordered to give the electrician N1million cash as reward, while the dismissed stewards should be recalled immediately, although they were redeployed to other assignments.
What is dollars doing in Governor’s room for God sake… Isn’t this looting?

Tonto Dikeh in trouble as movie producers, directors stop giving her roles
Tonto Charity Dikeh has become a force to reckon with in the Nigerian movie industry, Nollywood. The actress and singer from Rivers State is of the Ikwerre tribe. Born June 9, 1985, Dikeh competed against other contestants on a reality TV show called The Next Movie Star where she was the first runner-up.Hitz writes about the many controversies of the sultry actress and why she should take it easy for a blossomed career.
Nollywood, is second only to the Indian film industry in number of movies produced each year and it has produced world class stars like Omotola Jalade Ekehinde, Genevieve Nnaji, Olu Jacobs, Pete Edochie, the late Sam Loco Efe, Nkem Owoh and many others.
Dikeh says that after her second movie ‘Holy Cross’, more movie directors and producers were willing to cast her, and she has appeared in scores of movies ever since.
The actress has received criticism on many a movie she starred in making her a hot cake for producers who want her to be part of their movies due to her logic in script interpretation.
The enchanting young actress still have a lot in store for her and she could achieve whatever she want to achieve in the industry.
Nollywood is just a step in the right direction to become a world renowned. She has the charisma, physics, face and other attributes anyone could think of to become a star. But the crazy incidents of late is not telling good of her image. It could be a strategy to be hyped by the media, but controversies easily kills a celebrity image.
Hitz can exclusively report that there is a current gang up to frustrate the career of actress, Tonto Dikeh, who is also a darling to controversies.
Tonto who hugs, chews and pampers controversy in a very helplessly controversial manner is said to have bitten more than she can chew in recent times following her rude and troublesome behaviour while on set. A certain top movie Director who wouldn’t want his name mentioned, was directing a movie on a set at Asaba with Tonto Dikeh playing lead in the movie and ever since he came back to Lagos after the shoot, he has not stopped complaining about how rude and abusive Tonto played out herself all through at the location.
According to him, “Tonto Dikeh is such a rot and lacks every bit of home training, apologies to her parents. ‘I tried to control myself in order not to disrupt the set, but I got upset over the kind of insult Tonto, heaped on the makeup artiste on the set. A woman who is old enough to be her mother” ‘Are you stupid, don’t you know what you are supposed to do? Must I remind you before you’ll know you are supposed to make me up’? Those were said to be Tonto’s words to the already fuming makeover artiste who was at the verge of throwing back some punch lines at her.
At this point, the director was said to have lashed at Tonto seriously and washed her in, out, left, right and center until the situation was later calmed down by the producer of the movie. This was sequaled by a certain report made available to this medium that due to her controversial lifestyle and appetite for trouble, Tonto’s colleagues now isolate themselves from her, as well as some of her very close friends.
Meanwhile a check by this medium has revealed that top movie producers and directors have teamed up to frustrate Tonto Dikeh due to mannerless attitude while on set. According to them, “that little brat, apart from her addictions to marijuana and cigarette, doesn’t give a damn about whose ox is gored, she abuses, throw tantrums and fight on set at every slightest provocation and we must make sure she’s humiliated. She seem to have gathered to much weight and has hurriedly forgotten those days when she used to go on bended knees for a ‘waka pass’ role in movies. We’ll teach her a lesson’. They vowed.
On the other hand, records have it that the ‘Mother Controversy’ as Tonto is now widely addresses by colleagues doesn’t enjoy the best of relationship with most of her colleagues. Among whom are: Mercy Johnson, her arch rival, Mamma Gee, even though she was credited of introducing her to the industry big time, Genevieve, although the genesis of their disagreement was not stated, Nonso Diobi for rebuking her over abusive comments on Mercy Johnson. Other names given are, Nuella Njubigbo and Monalisa Chinda, all of whom are producers’ top demands in movies.
Meanwhile producers and directors, who have worked with her, have described Mercy Johnson as a down to earth person, cheerful and cool-headed to work with. Sources who spoke exclusively to www.myemag.net claim it’s the reason MJ as Mercy is famously addressed is of a very high demand in movies in the past few years, especially now that Nollywood is shifting base to Asaba in Delta State, Nigeria.
Mercy Johnson, married to Odianose Okojie, blessed with a beautiful baby, Purity has countless of movies to her credit and has won to herself, too numerous fans within a short period of time.

Box Office Report: 'Wolverine' Opens to Strong $141.1 Mil Globally; Soft in North America
Ben Rothstein/Twentieth Century Fox
The Hugh Jackman superhero pic is doing huge business overseas, where it opened higher than any previous "X-Men" film; Woody Allen's "Blue Jasmine" scores the best limited opening in almost a year.
Culled from The Hollywood Reporter. Hollywood's summer tentpole strategy continued to suffer in North America with the muted debut of The Wolverine, but the X-Men spin-off more than made up for it overseas.
The 20th Century Fox pic opened to $55 million domestically and
roughly $86.1 million internationally for a worldwide total of $141.1
million -- easily covering the film's $120 million production budget.
Internationally, it posted the strongest opening ever for an X-Men title.
Wolverine certainly isn't a dud in North America and still claimed the No. 1 position, but came in at least $10 million behind expectations and well behind the $85.1 million opening of X-Men Origins: Wolverine in early May 2009. It opened on par with last summer's X-Men: First Class, an origins pic versus a sequel.
It follows several all-out bombs, including R.I.P.D., White House Down, The Lone Ranger and After Earth, leaving Hollywood studios questioning the sanity of rolling out so many event pics in one summer. Unlike Wolverine, those films haven't been saved by a strong international performance.
Wolverine opened No. 1 in 100 countries, coming in 51 percent bigger than the first Wolverine and 51 percent bigger than last year's origins pic X-Men: First Class. Revenue from 3D screens represented 50 percent of the total.
Wolverine was directed by James Mangold, with Hugh Jackman returning in the title role (the two worked together previously on the 2001 romantic adventure Kate & Leopold).
Fox is hoping that the movie's long-term outcome will be boosted by strong reviews and a strong A- CinemaScore; X-Men Origins was roundly bashed by critics. Males made up the majority of the audience (58 percent).
"The A- CinemaScore and our excellent exit polls are a testament to the high-quality film that James Mangold and Hugh Jackman made. I think Wolverine has advanced to be a very compelling and complex character that audiences have really responded to," said Fox president of domestic distribution Chris Aronson.
Other box office observers question whether audience summer fatigue has set in, resulting in the lower turnout for Wolverine.
Set sometime after the events of X-Men: The Last Stand, Logan (Jackman) has renounced his superhero powers and is living as a recluse in the Yukon. However, he's drawn back into the world when a Japanese man he once saved requests to become immortal. He also asks that Logan protect his granddaughter. The movie has yet to open in Japan.
New Line's low-budget horror offering The Conjuring dropped a slim 47 percent in its second weekend, grossing $22.1 million to come in No. 2 and pushing its North American total to $83.9 million, the top showing of the year for a horror title.
Universal's Despicable Me 2 continued to rule the family market, grossing $16 million in its fourth weekend to best newer offering Turbo, which declined 37 percent in its second weekend to $13.2 million for a domestic total of $55.8 million.
Despicable 2 became only the sixth animated film to cross the $300 million mark in North America, ending Sunday with a total $306.4 million, the second-best showing of the year after Iron Man 3. It's worldwide gross is $660.9 million.
Rounding out the top five was Sony's Adam Sandler ensemble comedy Grown Ups 2, which took in $11.5 million for a domestic total of $101.7, becoming the 14th Sandler film to cross $100 million.
R.I.P.D., from Universal, tumbled 54 percent in its second weekend to come in a dismal No. 9 with $5.9 million. The movie's domestic total through Sunday is a scant $24.4 million.
Wolverine may have been the only new major release this weekend, but there was a flurry of activity at the specialty box office, including the stellar launch of Woody Allen's Blue Jasmine.
The film, headlined by Cate Blanchett, grossed $612,767 from six theaters in New York and Los Angeles for a location average of $102,128 -- the best since The Master in September 2012 and ahead of the $99,834 opening location average of Allen's box-office hit Midnight in Paris. Sony Pictures Classics, Allen's longtime distribution partner, is releasing Blue Jasmine in the U.S.
Two high-profile specialty films expanded nationwide this weekend: Fruitvale Station and coming-of-age dramedy The Way, Way Back. In a notable win, Fruitvale came in ahead of Way, Way Back.
Fruitvale Station, from The Weinstein Co., placed No. 10, grossing an oustanding $4.7 million from 1,030 theaters for a location average of $4,377 and cume of $6.3 million. Ryan Coogler's critically acclaimed film, prospering in both art house and African-American theaters, recounts the real-life shooting of an unarmed young black man by a BART police officer in Oakland. The film, which should end the weekend with a domestic cume of $6.3 million, has drawn numerous parallels to the Trayvon Martin case
"The fact that it is in the top 10 is pretty impressive," said Erik Lomis, president of distribution for TWC.
Fox Searchlight's The Way, Way Back, starring Steve Carell, Toni Colette and Sam Rockwell, placed No. 11 with $3.3 million from 886 theaters for a total of $8.9 million. The film, directed by Nat Faxon and Jim Rash, who wrote the script for The Descendants, posted a location average of $3,724.
Among other new specialty offerings, CBS Films' raunchy comedy The To Do List, starring Aubrey Plaza, opened to an estimated $1.5 million from 591 theaters, a softer-than-expected start.

Lots of things were going through my mind. But actually my mind was blank because I didn’t really hear my name very clearly. I don’t really know what to say but I am just too happy.
Did you dream of winning the contest?
Yes, I have always dreamt of being in this position because I have always had the passion for helping humanity, so I had always wanted a platform where I can carry out this thing.
How did you hear about MBGN?
A friend of mine, Ambassador Uche, told me about Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant and I entered for the competition.
How would you describe your experience at the booth camp?
The experience was wonderful. There were lots of fun, drama, talking, laughing; so many good things happened in the camp and I really loved it. They were good memories. At the booth camp, I learnt punctuality, perseverance and humility.
You are now a Special Assistant on Culture and Tourism to the Governor of Bayelsa State and also an ambassador, how would you combine your role as a queen with all these?
I am really going to try my best. I will put in much effort to make sure that I help my people, state and my governor. I will try my best no matter how hard it may seem, I will put my best towards it and I will make sure that my best comes out of it.
What projects do you intend to pursue?
I will concentrate on education. I just want to help my people in terms of education. I want to give them the awareness of education. I am talking about not just formal education but informal education that has to do with skill acquisition. I want to make sure people understand that education is wealth and knowledge, and to also let them know that those who have proper qualifications are able to achieve better in life.
Were you surprised that you won the contest?
Yes, I am still very surprised that I won the competition because there were lots of contestants in the house.
What are you taking away from this competition?
Being friendly with people is actually a good thing. You never know where you will meet them tomorrow. It’s actually best for you to be nice to people, talk to them and relate with them in a good manner.
How did your parents react to your emergence as the queen?
My mother is happy and over excited. My dad couldn’t make it to the venue of the show. There were rumours about pageantry not being healthy for young girls. But despite this, I convinced them that it wasn’t going to be the same.
What of your boyfriend? Is he excited too?
I can’t answer that. I’m just eighteen. I don’t have a boyfriend. That’s not really my priority right now.
Who are your heroes?
My first icon is God almighty and the second is the President of Liberia, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. My role model is Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. She’s not into pageantry but I love her so much because she’s very courageous, zealous, fearless, a Christian and not someone to let go of her dream because of some kind of instability. She motivates me a lot. Also, I am really grateful to everybody including my family and friends. I love them all.
What is your favourite meal?
My best food is actually pounded yam. But for now, I have to cut down on that because I don’t want to add too much weight.
What are your hobbies?
I love writing and singing.

SHOCKING: Daughter of Redeemed Pastor Turns Muslim,Says Nobody Forced her
Charity Uzoechina |
Culled From The Nigerian Monitor The conversion to Islam of 25-year-old Charity Uzoechina, daughter of Pastor Raymond Uzoechina of Redeem Christian Church of God, Kwankwashe, Suleja, continues to generate controversy.
Her father accused the Estu Nupe Alhaji Yahaya Abubukar, of hypnotizing his daughter, who has since changed her name to A’isha, to embrace Islam. A’isha, who hails from Asaba, Delta State, came to Abuja at the age of 10 when her father relocated from Lagos.
After her secondary school education at Army Day Secondary School Asokoro, Abuja she got admission into Federal Polytechnic, Bida to read Public Administration. She, however, withdrew from the course in her first year. She embraced Islam on February 15, 2013. A’isha said since her family relocated to Suleja, Niger State, she has been in the midst of Muslims, which accorded her the opportunity to have several Muslims friends and learnt a lot about Islam.
The travails of A’isha began when she ran to the Estu Nupe’s palace in Bida on March 1, this year to seek protection against any aggression she may face should her family know about her conversion to Islam. This led to a controversy that is still ongoing, with her father accusing the traditional ruler of kidnapping his daughter. Along the line, several meetings were organized between A’isha and her father Pastor Uzoechina and his daughter at the instance of the Estu Nupe, who also involved some members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).
But despite that, A’isha refused to follow her father, alleging that he has threatened to deal with her by taking her away to a place that she will not be able to practice her new religion. A’isha has taken the matter to a Shariah court in Bida and the court is expected to rule on August 1, 2013 whether or not the 25-year-old should be released to her parents or not. She speaks exclusively to Weekly Trust.
What is your name?
Aisha Uzoechina: I was formerly known as Charity Uzoechina and now A’isha Uzoechina. Why the change of name? I changed my name because I have accepted Islam.
What brought you to Bida?
I came to Bida in 2012 to read Public Administration at the Federal Polytechnic, Bida.
Are you still a student of Federal Polytechnic Bida?
No, I am not. I have withdrawn from the school.
Did you go back home?
No, I did not go home. At the beginning I was planning to go back home, because I wanted to tell my father that I have converted to Islam. When I converted, I was afraid to tell my parents, because of the way my father would behave. I know he will not take it lightly with me. So, for that I refused to go back home.
Did anybody force or enticed you to join Islam?
I joined Islam on my own. Nobody enticed me with anything to join Islam. What informed your decision to join Islam? I converted to Islam because I love the character of Muslims, particularly the way they behave. You know Muslims believe in God. I have Muslim friends and I watch what they do, that enticed me to join Islam. I used to read Qur’an when I was a Christian. I always join them to read Qur’an and through that I found out that it is the same one God they worship. So I embraced Islam.
How did your father come to know about your change of faith?
When I ran to the palace, I told you, it was very difficult before I could see the Emir. When I saw him, the emir refused to accept me, because my father did not know about it. He, therefore, collected my father’s number from me and called him. The following day my father came and said he wanted to see me. When we met we talked one on one.
What did you tell him?
Well the emir told him that I have converted to Islam. When my father talked to me, he said let’s go home, but I refused. I told him that I will not change my faith, because I have already accepted Islam and this is where I want to stay. He, therefore, threatened me so much so that I became scared of him.
What did he do to you amounting to a threat?
In the first place you know, I put on Hijab (veil), he said I should remove the Hijab. He was angry and used some harsh words on me, directing that I should remove the Hijab, but I refused. He threatened to take me to a village where nobody will set his eyes on me. So I became scared of him, therefore I refused to follow him. That is it.
Did the emir intervene?
The emir gave him one week to come back, but he came back even before it reached one week. He said he must take me home. He will not take me to our house, but he’ll take me to somewhere that nobody will set his eyes on me. I quickly ran back to the emir and to the Shari’a Court for protection. I don’t want to go back to my father, because he is threatening me.
How did you come to know about the Shari’a Court?
I found out from people. I went to them on my own to formally lodge my complaint.
Why Shari’a Court?
They have to protect me. You know when you take a case to court over life threatening issue, the court must protect you. That is it.
Did your father come back after you refused to follow him?
He came back. He kept on coming back. The other time he even threatened to bring some people to kidnap me.
Is it true that at a time your father came with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) officials to you?
Yes. Is it true that you also went to the Jama’atul Nasril Islam (JNI)?
Yes.
Why did you go to JNI?
I told you and I’ll still repeat it, though I don’t want to repeat my words again. I want them to intervene on my behalf, the threat is too much. Now I can’t go anywhere, I cannot even continue with my schooling. I cannot do anything because of the way he has been threatening me. He is still bringing people up till now to keep watch on me.
How do you know that your father has assigned people to keep watch on you?
There was a time that I wanted to go out, information came to me that my father was around and I had to stay back since I don’t want him to take me away. I know that if I gout anytime,I he’ll pick me up.
How did you come to know about JNI?
I have been reading about them. That is why I went to them.
How did you present your case to JNI?
I wrote to them seeking for their intervention, because I do not know how to go about convincing my father. I also learnt that the emir wanted to hand me over to my father, because the burden of my case is becoming too much for him to bear.
If your father should promise to allow you to practice your new faith, will you go with him? I’ll not. In a family that you are the only Muslim, how can you practice in that house?
You know when he (my father) came along with my mother the other time, his actions and the harsh words he used, even if I go back home, my life will not be secured in his hand. That is why I said I’ll not go.
Did you start learning anything about Islam?
Yes, I started learning how to perform ablution. I have learnt how to recite Surah Al-Fatihah, I am now in my second surah.
Do you pray five times a day?
Yes I do. I am even fasting now. I have been fasting since the beginning of the month of Ramadan.
What is your message to people wanting to join Islam?
I have only one message. Islam is good. Muslims are truthful, everything they say, they believe in God and they carry people along. Once a person converted to Islam, he’ll be carried along until he is strong to stand on his own.
What is your appeal to your parent?
I am appealing to my parents not to be angry with me. My conversion to Islam will not separate us. I still love them, even though I am here. They can come and visit me and I can also visit them. They shouldn’t think my new faith will take away the love I have for them. It will not. I am very sorry.
South African chef 'too fat' to live in New Zealand
Authorities in New Zealand have told a South African chef he is too fat to be allowed to live in the country.
Immigration officials said Albert Buitenhuis, who weighs 130kg (286 pounds), did not have "an acceptable standard of health".He now faces expulsion despite shedding 30kg since he moved to the city of Christchurch six years ago.
New Zealand has one of the highest obesity rates in the developed world, with nearly 30% of people overweight.
Mr Buitenhuis and his wife, Marthie, moved from South Africa to Christchurch in 2007. At the time, the chef weighed 160kg.
Until now, their annual work visas had been renewed with "very little problem", his wife said.
"We applied year after year and there were no issues," she said.
"They never mentioned Albert's weight or his health once and he was a lot heavier then."
But in early May, the couple was told their work visas had been declined because of Mr Buitenhuis's weight.
"The irony is that at the moment he weighs less than when we first arrived in New Zealand and also less than in his first medical, which was accepted by [immigration authorities]," his wife said.
The couple has appealed to New Zealand's immigration minister, citing the chef's recent weight loss.
An immigration spokesman said Mr Buitenhuis's application had been rejected because his obesity put him at "significant risk" of complications including diabetes, hypertension and heart disease.
"It is important that all migrants have an acceptable standard of health to minimise costs and demands on New Zealand's health services," he said.
Pope Francis in Brazil: Pilgrims pack Copacabana beach
Up to three million people have packed Brazil's Copacabana Beach to hear Pope Francis address their all-night vigil.
The pilgrims are remaining in place for a Mass to be celebrated there by Francis later on Sunday. In his address, he urged the pilgrims not to be part-time Christians but to lead full, meaningful lives.
The Pope, who has been attending the biggest ever Catholic World Youth Day, leaves Brazil on Sunday after five days - his first overseas trip as pontiff.
'Overcome apathy' Speaking on a huge stage at the beach where a mock church structure was built, Pope Francis referred to the street protests which have been taking place in Brazil for more than a month.
"The young people in the street are the ones who want to be actors of change. Please don't let others be actors of change," he told the crowd at the vigil.
"Keep overcoming apathy and offering a Christian response to the social and political concerns taking place in different parts of the world."
By the time the Pope's car had reached the stage, the back seat was filled with soccer jerseys, flags and flowers thrown to him by adoring pilgrims lining the route.

The BBC's Wyre Davies in Rio says almost
every inch of the two-and-a-half mile long beach was occupied as most
of the young people stayed on, pitching tents or sleeping in the open.
As the crowd grew, female activists held a demonstration nearby in support of abortion and women's rights. But our correspondent says the Pope and the Church hierarchy will be delighted at the huge turnout and the way Francis has been received by pilgrims from across the globe.
The Mass will be celebrated at the beach in the early afternoon.
Earlier on Saturday, the Pope addressed civil leaders and government officials at Rio's Municipal Theatre.
"Between selfish indifference and violent protest, there is always another possible option: that of dialogue," he said, in a reference to demonstrations that have been rocking the country since June.
"A country grows when constructive dialogue occurs between its many rich cultural components: popular culture, university culture, youth culture, artistic and technological culture, economic culture, family culture and media culture."
In the past three decades, the Catholic church has lost millions of followers to smaller Christian denominations.
'Go to the favelas' Also on Saturday, the Pope repeated his challenge to fellow Roman Catholic clerics to take to the streets.
In a speech to 1,000 bishops and clerics in Rio's cathedral, he said they should go to the favelas - Brazil's shanty towns.
"We cannot keep ourselves shut up in parishes, in our communities, when so many people are waiting for the Gospel," he told the audience.
Protests, sometimes violent, broke out in cities across Brazil last month against corruption, poor public services and the high cost of events like the 2014 World Cup.

Top 50: Players in the world
Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Andres Iniesta - who is the best?
50-Wayne Rooney
Rooney had a poor 2012/13 by his standards but still sneaks on to the top 50 list.
49-Michael Carrick
Carrick surprised a few people last year, he was one of Man United's best players and helped them to the league title. He deserved his nomination for the PFA player of the year award.
48-Leighton Baines
Baines is one of Everton's best ever players and showed that again last season. Moyes will definitely want him in a United shirt next season.
47-Pablo Zabaleta
Man City underperformed last season but Zabaleta was top quality.
46-Santi Cazorla
Cazorla stepped up to the Premier League and was one of Arsenal's best players with 12 goals and 13 assists.
45-Mats Hummels
Hummels was solid at the back for Dortmund and helped them to the Champions League final.
44-Stephan El Shaarawy
El Shaarawy was one of the best young players in Serie A last season and showed some of his talent at the Confederations Cup.
43-Fernando Torres
Torres finished the season very strongly for Chelsea but still hasn't lived up to his £50 million transfer fee. Next season, don't be surprised to see him back in form for Chelsea next season.
42-Philipp Lahm
The whole Bayern team were outstanding last season and Lahm's experience helped them to their first ever treble.
41-Gerard Pique
Pique didn't have an amazing season for Barcelona but was solid enough to make it to 41st on this list.
40-Mario Balotelli
Since his move to AC Milan Balotelli has become a much better player, he showed this for Italy in the Confederations Cup as well, he seems to have calmed down a bit as well. Milan will depend on him if they are going to challenge for the Serie A title next season.
39-Mario Mandzukic
Mandzukic stepped in for the injured Mario Gomez at the start of the season and was amazing, he kept his place in the starting XI and finished the season with a goal in the Champions League final.
38-Antonio Di Natale
Di Natale is very underrated, maybe because he is not playing for a Champions League club. His 23 Serie A goals last season get him to 38th.
37-Robert Weidenfeller
Weidenfeller was solid for Dortmund last season, his Champions League final performance alone was enough to get him on this list.
36-Jerome Boateng
Boateng looks like a really promising centre back, his pace and strength makes it hard for attackers.
35-Arturo Vidal
Vidal was top notch for Juventus last season and was one of their best outfield players.
34-Thiago Silva
Silva remains the best centre back in Ligue 1, he would be higher but is not playing in one of the big leagues.
33-Bastian Schweinsteiger
Schweinsteiger will never lose the ball, he has been at the top of his game for so long and is one of the most consistent players in the world.
32-David Alaba
There are many Bayern players on this list, for obvious reasons, At 21, the Austrian could become something very special.
31-Jan Vertonghen
Vertonghen was the best defender in the Premier League last season and scored a handful of goals as well. His injury in a friendly against Sunderland on Thursday will be a big worry for Spurs.
30-Petr Cech
Cech is still one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League and showed it last year with some unbelievable saves. His FA Cup semi-final save from Javier Hernandez's header was truly sensational.
29-Thibaut Courtois
Chelsea are very lucky to have this gem, but they don't yet need him so another season on loan at Atletico Madrid where he was world class last season.
28-Jesus Navas
Navas is fast. Unbelievably fast, he is impossible for defenders to deal with and could be a vital player for Man City next season.
27-Jordi Alba
Alba had another exceptional season, the young left back loves to bomb forward and scored two goals in one match for Spain!
26-Gianluigi Buffon
Buffon is still class and made some top saves to help Juventus to the title last season.
25-Dante
Dante is very underrated and is in my opinion the best centre back in the Bundesliga.
24-Xabi Alonso
Liverpool must really regret selling Alonso to Real Madrid because since he has joined he has been top quality. He will need to step up his game again next season after Madrid signed Asier Illarramendi for £34 million.
23-Neymar
Neymar is a very exciting player, he would be higher but hasn't proved himself in Europe yet. Could become the best player in the world, some are claiming he already is.
22-Mario Gotze
Gotze was brilliant for Dortmund last season and it is no surprise he has been snapped up by Bayern - I think he may become an untouchable midfielder for them.
20-Luis Suarez
Suarez may be a childish player but he has ability, his 30 goals for Liverpool were the only reason they achieved and adequate league position last season. Arsenal will be desperate to get the striker after their £40,000,001 bid.
19-Marco Reus
Reus is young and very talented he can also play left wing and centre forward so is a player any club would want.
18-Iker Casillas
Casillas is still the best goalie in the world and Carlo Ancelotti will be very happy to have him.
17-Radamel Falcao
Falcao was lethal for Atletico Madrid and is almost worth his £51 million transfer fee, don't expect to see much of him next season though, he has taken a big step down to Monaco.
16-Andrea Barzagli
Barzagli was one of the main reasons for Juventus' success last season. He was so solid that he is the second highest defender on the list.
15-Juan Mata
I find it unbelievable that Mourinho wants to sell Mata - he is a top player and was one of the best in the Premier League last season. If he does stay Chelsea could be a strong force.
14-Eden Hazard
Hazard has been a great signing for Chelsea, you know he must be good because since he's left Lille they've been awful.
13-Sergio Ramos
Apart from his penalties every part of Ramos' game is good. Fast centre backs are rare and this is why Ramos is worth so much to Real Madrid.
12-Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Ibrahimovic's goal against England was one of the best I've seen, he was as good for PSG as well leading them to the Ligue 1 title. But with the arrival of Edinson Cavani, could he be on his way again.
11-Arjen Robben
If he passed the ball, Robben would be up there with Messi and Ronaldo, he's still so good though. Very good!
10-Xavi Hernandez
Xavi's passing is just extraordinary, he can pick out a player from anywhere, that's why he's in the top ten.
9-Andres Iniesta
Iniesta showed last season he's not just a passer, he's got skill and can score goals as well.
8-Robert Lewandowski
His four goals against Real Madrid put me in no doubt that this guy is special, Dortmund need to keep hold of him.
7-Franck Ribery
Unbelievably Ribery still isn't the highest Bayern player on this list, this season he has destroyed defences and put in some lethal crosses for Mandzukic.
6-Edinson Cavani
Cavani will be the best striker in Ligue 1 next season, but I still believe a Premier League move would of been a better choice, there he would become an even more accomplished player.
5-Robin Van Persie
I didn't think Van Persie would be able to top his overall performance for Arsenal in 2011/12. But he did. If it wasn't for a goal drought half way through the season he might even be higher.
4-Gareth Bale
If Real Madrid pay £80 million for Bale I will be surprised, but there is no doubt be he is not far off Cristiano Ronaldo's standard and could become just as good.
3-Thomas Muller
This may surprise you because Muller isn't often put in the top three best players in the world. However, i believe Muller's Bayern performances last season were better than any other midfielder in the world, that's why he is is here.
2-Cristiano Ronaldo
Ronaldo has not really surprised anyone this season, he doesn't really have any more surprising to do. He is and always will be second best to Messi, but he is such a good player. He is fast, strong and has a lethal shot on him. If he does decide to go back to Manchester he will rock the Premier League again.
1-Lionel Messi
Messi unsurprisingly tops this list, he remains the best player in the world, you wouldn't think Messi could improve anymore but he has and seems a bit stronger as well. Some people are saying he is no longer the world's top player after not performing against Bayern in the Champions League semis - but that was down to injury and nothing else.
